Famed news broadcaster launches his new podcast series globally: "The Tony Parsons Show"
(November 6, 2024 - Kelowna, BC) Tony Parsons has stepped out of retirement and into his new studio in Kelowna, BC to produce his new podcast series. As a Journalist for the past 50 years, Parsons anchored the second most-watched local television newscast in North America, the News Hour on Global BC, in Canada. During his distinguished career, Tony reported on some of the world’s most notable news events that have shaped our nation. He has interviewed Prime Ministers, Premiers, entertainers, thought leaders and other people of distinction from around the world. His goal with his podcast is to produce an interview series, based on the TV and radio talk-show format that we became accustomed to and loved.
As many of us have experienced, talk show hosts of yesteryear, became like close friends who visit our living rooms each night. For decades, they have kept us intrigued, laughing, crying and feeling connected with them — and their guests. With his podcast series, Tony will discuss current events, pop culture, and trending topics, while at the same time invite his guests to share their personal stories and opinions on issues and headline news.
The first season of The Tony Parsons Show was released on October 26, 2024 on across all major podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and Deezer. His esteemed guests include fellow broadcasters: Peter Mansbridge, former news anchor for CBC's'The National' and CTV News anchor Sandie Rinaldo. Mansbridge shares stories of his early life and how his discovery, while announcing flights in a small airport in Churchill Manitoba led to a career in journalism. He also speaks frankly about the viability of the public funded CBC and the concerning loss of public trust in the news media. Rinaldo takes us on an emotional journey to the, then occupied, country of Poland to trace the footsteps of her parents as these holocaust survivors evaded the Nazis. She also reveals her struggles with breast cancer and the tragic loss of her husband Michael, in 2005. As well, listeners will be riveted as Tony takes guest Dr. David Suzuki back in time to his boyhood years in Marpole, near Vancouver, BC. Dr. Suzuki describes the dramatic upheaval his Japanese-Canadian family experienced in 1942 when they were ordered into an interment camp in Slocan Valley, BC and how that woodland environment led to his passion for nature.
Other notable guests include; former Executive Producer, Global National News, Leslie Stojsic, Jim Hughson, announcer and voice of Hockey Night in Canada, and Dr. Bonnie Henry. Tony Parson's fans will also enjoy a lively 'reunion show' with his former colleagues from the BCTV Global News Hour, News Broadcaster, Pamela Martin, Weatherman, Wayne Cox and News Director, Cameron Bell.
